Terms of Use

Last updated: 24 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and WhatsNext. They cover the Android app, the Android TV app, the browser app, the browser extension and this website — together, "the Service". "We" and "us" mean WhatsNext, operated by an independent developer trading as thenextus, based in Türkiye; you can reach us at support@thenextus.com.tr. Using the Service means you accept these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

1. What WhatsNext is

WhatsNext is a personal media tracker. It keeps a record of the TV shows, anime and films you follow, remembers where you are in each one, tells you when a new episode airs, and points you at the services that carry them.

It does not host, stream, provide or link to unlicensed video. It has no player. Where you watch is your business: the links you save are your own, and we neither check nor endorse them.

2. Who can use it

You need to be at least 13, and old enough in your country to hold a Google account and to agree to a contract like this one. If you're under the age where you can agree on your own, ask a parent or guardian first.

3. Your account

You sign in with Google — there's no separate WhatsNext password to lose. What happens under your account is your responsibility, so keep your device and your Google account secure. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.

You may pick a username and you get a friend code. Choose a username that isn't someone else's name, isn't a slur, and isn't chosen to impersonate. We can reclaim a username that breaks that.

4. What you may not do

5. What you write

Your ratings, reviews, notes, list names and profile stay yours. We claim no ownership of them. To run the Service we need your permission to store them, back them up and show them where you asked us to: a review you mark public appears on that title's page and to your friends; a list you share appears to the people you shared it with. That permission is limited to operating WhatsNext, it isn't exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content or your account — except for copies already made by other people, and for the snapshot kept with a moderation report (see below).

Only publish what you have the right to publish, and remember that a note you make public can be read by anyone using the app.

6. Reports, blocking and suspension

Every public review and profile can be reported from inside the app, and you can block another reader so neither of you shows up for the other. A report stores a copy of what was reported — so that removing it doesn't erase the evidence — and is read by a moderator.

If something breaks section 4 we can remove it, take away a username, suspend the account, or close it. A suspended account is hidden rather than deleted: you can't sign in, your public reviews and your presence in other people's friend lists and shared lists disappear, and nothing of yours is destroyed. If the suspension is lifted, it all comes back as it was.

We aim to act proportionately, and to act fastest on the things that hurt people. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@thenextus.com.tr and a person will look at it again.

7. WhatsNext Plus

The core of WhatsNext is free, and stays free: following titles, progress, episode notifications, the calendar, social features, imports and sync across your devices are not capped. A free account sees ads and is limited to 3 custom lists, 100 titles in a list, and 1 shared list of its own.

WhatsNext Plus is an optional paid subscription that removes the ads and those limits and unlocks the extras — advanced statistics, custom themes, calendar export. There is also a cheaper Ad-free tier that only removes the ads. Both are sold inside the Android app.

8. Ads and rewarded videos

Free accounts see ads in the Android and TV apps, served by Google AdMob; the browser app shows none. You may also choose to watch a rewarded video to unlock a small extra for a while — another list slot, room for more titles — capped per month. Watching is always optional and never required to use anything you already have. Ads are never targeted using your account, your lists or what you watch; the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what the ad network does receive.

9. Where the data comes from, and affiliate links

Titles, artwork, air dates, descriptions and availability come from third parties — TVmaze, AniList, Trakt and JustWatch among them. That material belongs to its owners, is used under their terms, and may be wrong, late or missing. Don't rely on WhatsNext for anything that matters more than deciding what to watch tonight.

Some "Available on" links are affiliate links: if you subscribe or buy after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those links are labelled as such next to the link. Which services appear, and in what order, comes from the providers' data — never from what pays us — and the links you save yourself are never modified.

10. The browser extension

The extension is optional. Once paired with your account it notices when a video is playing, keeps your saved link pointed at the next episode, and can mark an episode watched for you. Any automatic marking is a convenience, not a guarantee — check your progress if it matters. You can unpair it from the app at any time, which revokes its access immediately.

11. Your calendar link

If you subscribe to your upcoming episodes from a calendar app, we give you a private address containing a long random token. Anyone who has that address can see that calendar without signing in, so treat it like a password. You can revoke it and get a new one from the app at any time.

12. Changes to the Service

WhatsNext is actively developed by one person. Features may change, pause or be withdrawn, and there may be downtime. If we ever discontinue the Service entirely, we'll give reasonable notice and a way to export what you tracked.

13. Ending it

You can stop at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account; the deletion page sets out exactly what goes and what stays. We can suspend or end access for a breach of these terms, and — with reasonable notice where we can give it — if we stop operating the Service. Sections 5, 9, 14, 15 and 16 survive the end of this agreement.

14. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that notifications arrive, that air dates are right, that recommendations suit you, or that the Service is uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing here limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

15. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, for lost data, or for anything arising out of a third-party service or a link you followed. Where liability can't be excluded, it is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or the equivalent of ten euros. None of this excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Türkiye, and the courts of Türkiye have jurisdiction. If you use the Service as a consumer somewhere else, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may be able to bring a claim there. Please write to us first — most things are settled by an email.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top always says when. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new version. If you don't accept it, delete your account.

18. Our software and brand

The software behind WhatsNext — the apps, the TV app, the browser app, the extension and this website — together with the WhatsNext name and logo, is ours, or is used by us under licence, and stays that way. Using WhatsNext gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it the way it is meant to be used, for your own non-commercial enjoyment; it hands you none of the above. Don't copy, sell, rent or redistribute the software, and don't decompile or reverse-engineer it, except where the law lets you regardless of this paragraph. The titles, artwork and descriptions you see belong to the providers in section 9; the things you write stay yours under section 5.

19. Copyright and takedowns

WhatsNext doesn't host video, but people do write things here — reviews, notes, list names. If something a reader published on WhatsNext infringes your copyright, tell us at support@thenextus.com.tr: name the work, point us to where it appears, give us a way to reach you, and confirm in good faith that the use wasn't authorised. We act on proper notices — taking down what should come down — and we close the accounts of people who infringe again. If you believe your own content was removed by mistake, the same address reaches a person.

20. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of the way you used WhatsNext — something you published, a right of theirs you broke, or a term here you ignored — you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses that claim puts on us. This never applies to something that wasn't your doing, and it never removes a protection your local consumer law gives you.

21. General

A few housekeeping points. If a court sets aside part of these terms, the rest stay in force. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't waived it. You can't transfer this agreement to anyone else; we can — for instance if WhatsNext is one day passed to or merged with another operator — and we'll tell you in the app before that happens. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service, and they create no rights for anyone who isn't you or us. Section 13 already lists the terms that outlast the end of your account; sections 18, 19, 20 and this one join them.
